So his jealousy pops up less often, because you two have been through hell and back and he feels confident in your mutual love. R: An absolutely love-struck fool. He's giddy and giggly one moment, then having a breakdown the next because part of him believes this is a dream. "ME? FEELINGS?" He isn't sure if he's jealous of those who have normal lives and normal happiness, but... he doesn't bother ruminating over it. It's too late for him to be jealous, in his eyes.

R: Oh, when SE is in love? You may as well rename the DSM-5 to the Saeran Choi Guidebook because he's got every mental illness about it. He hates himself for being vulnerable, he suppresses his emotions harder (which backfires), and he's horribly anxious that you'll catch on and that he will either scare you away... or taint you, making you think you might love him too. Because he's the last person in the world who deserves such happiness.

T: This man has never known a warm hug in his LIFE. (Maybe when he was a kid with Saeyoung.) Instead of craving it, he fears it. Do not touch him. He's jumpy and always on alert. His trauma makes him struggle to even be in the same room as people, never mind skin contact.

J: Jealousy? They struggle with it. Some days, Vandy will see someone or something that makes his heart ache. Other days, he scoffs and ignores it. They know they should've abandoned such mediocre feelings and ordinary wishes years ago, but... sometimes, "what if" thoughts pop in their head.

R: Major tsundere energy here. Vanderwood in love is a Vanderwood who comes with background music: I Won't Say I'm in Love. They've already lost so much. They can't risk getting attached to someone, only to lose them again and have another ghost haunt their dreams. for plot pretend there's a camera in the kitchen,, he said theres one outside? and none in, and he had nothing of saeran breaking in, but also he talks about being able to see you - so either you step out often to wave hi, or maybe there is a little one inside? dunno, again just pretend theres one

you hadn't been thinking really. you usually kept this to the bathroom, hidden and away.

today the knives looked especially... appealing. the soft water drops left from the recent wash that fell down the sleek metal, the sunlight that flicked through the window and hit them at a pretty angle. it looked like a painting, it felt like they were whispering to you, teasing you, taunting you. the blade looked too sharp, just a gentle slice would draw blood.

you lay it against your wrist, you pressed it lightly and took a sharp breath, then hissed in pain once you quickly slid it across. bad idea, the blood was instant, pooling out the new wound. one or two more, and then you shoved it under the tap, trying to recall where the bandages were.

your phone dinged your usual notification sound. you glanced over at it, placed on the countertop. the messenger gave you unclear messages, you guessed it was part of its secrecy, so all you saw was 'One direct message'. but it reminded you of something, it reminded you of why exactly you had recently taken to hiding in the bathroom.

because you weren't at home.

and there were cameras here.

you grabbed your phone, rushed into the small room, and locked the door as though someone might burst through. as though, he might burst through. your fingers shook as you ignored the second message, rushing to cover your cuts before any blood fell to the floor, before the stains stayed as evidence, just in case this time you couldn't remove it. you felt sick, your chest ached, your whole body was shaking now.

you didn't want to check the text. you didn't. you hoped it was a coincidence, that even if it was him, he hadn't seen you.

even though he checked every 0.2 seconds.

the longer you ignored it the more obvious it was. maybe you could play it off as a mistake, you were sure the cameras weren't super clear, right?

your hands shook, you stepped out, pacing around the small apartment as you opened the text, just avoiding the camera.

"i'm not busy. not when it comes to you." the quick reply made you jump, he was clearly waiting. you began to type out a reply, about how it was all just a silly mistake, but your phone screen was replaced by the calling icon instead. you took a deep breath, you didn't trust yourself for long replies, so you answered with a simple "hi".

"i can't come right now, so i can't keep a full eye on you, nor can i force you to stop. but i know what you were doing, and i'm telling you right now, its not worth it. any sort of satisfaction you think it gives you - it's not worth it."

"boo!" he lightly whispers next to you, laughing softly when you successfully jump slightly, but also quick to kiss in your head in apology when you pout at him, calling him mean for teasing you when you're in pain. "ah, is my sweet princess still hurting? no worries! your knight in amour is here!" he scoops you up from your curled up place on your chair, giving you a very gentle spin, ensuring it didn't bring on or worsen any nausea. "where to, my lady? 'somewhere comfortable'? okay!"

despite his energy, he's still soft, carrying you with ease, setting you down on crisp bed sheets - he must have been cleaning while you were in pain, he usually never touched the mess of his room, but even in your pained state you could tell everything was... clear. relaxing. he pulls a light blanket over you and then hands you a pillow to clutch tight.

"i don't get to hug my living boyfriend?"

"ahh, your living boyfriend has to go out into the battle zone to get you supplies. but fear not, i shall return! a kiss for the journey?" you kiss the cheek he tilts towards you, and he smiles brightly. "what do you need? water, pain killers, heat? i'll get you sweets as well, i'm sure saeran won't notice if i sneak a few of the new ones he got."

"thank you, sweet prince."

"rest well." he brushes any hair away from your face, and then quickly runs off. he likely returns with whatever you need best, including a laptop and projector to watch something with you, setting it up to face whatever wall (or ceiling) is the easiest for you to see. he then finally goes back to you, chuckling when you instantly grab him.

"i told you i'd return." you only hum in reply. he's offered you painkillers, he got you a heat pack, and you know he's noted the time to remind you when you can have more. when the worst of the cramps ease a bit, he'll suggest games to play, movies to watch, he'll bring out portable devices, and a table for board games, all the things you can do from the comfort of your bed.

but for now, his hands softly stroke your head, holding you tight. he can either sing a few songs he knows, or tell you a story he's made up. maybe both? he'll sing a tale of a sweet princess and her love, the knight. not based on a true story of course, although, just between you and him, he's taken inspiration for the princess from someone he loves very much.

he probably also has one of those star projectors he's set up. if you fall asleep on him, you wake to see the ceiling littered with soft lights, and him still there, instantly turning to face you with a smile. "feeling any better? you can have some more pain killers in an hour."

"yeah, thank you, saeyoung." he kisses your forehead. seeing you comfortable and happy brings a warm flutter to his chest.
